Southern Right whales frequent the waters of Fowlers Bay while enroute to the Head of the Bight from June – October each year. Some passing through, many staying for a week or so before travelling on, while a number of adults and calves stay on for a period of several months.

Dedicated fishers from all states of Australia visit Fowlers Bay to fish the waters of the Great Australian Bight for the prized Mulloway. Magnificent specimens up to 80 lb are frequently caught during the summer season.
